Run For Heroes Marathon needs more 'Blue Coats'
posted 06/01/2012 by Chris Uszynski

WE NEED MORE BLUE COATS!

Here is one of Canada’s coolest destination ‘boutique’ Marathon runs around.  Very flat, Canada’s most southern Boston Qualifier, awesome commemorative medal and it is in wine country a half hour from the Detroit/Windsor border!  You actually run through historic Fort Malden (across from Boblo Island) during a battle reenactment.  Being the official run for the Battle of 1812 Bicentennial Celebrations between Canada and the United States, when you register you have to chose being a Red Coat or a Blue Coat.  We need more ‘Blue Coats’ before we sell this out so it is balanced out, the Canadians are really eating this up.  We cap the course at 4,000 participants, keeping it very intimate and really focusing on the experience since it is one of the most scenic course around.  We currently have runners registered from around North America(FL, MD, OH, MI, IL, IN, NY, CA, Manitoba, BC) and we are talking to Kenyan’s and Brits that want to fly in.  Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K and 5K (on the Saturday).  September 23rd, 2012.  Accommodations from Caesars/Downtown Windsor, local Bed and Breakfasts to a campground near the start/finish line.

My Mom is my Hero!  Run For Heroes Marathon is named in honour of my mother who was the primary caregiver for over 19 years of my Dad who has had Alzheimer’s for over 21years.  Funds raised go to caregiver support programs like Day Away and In Home Respite Care.

Thanks for your consideration.
